Craig Lundeen was one of two Lundeen brothers inducted into the 1998 class of Hall of Famers. His brother Robert is also a member. Craig Lundeen was a three-sport athlete at Napa High and his list of credits and awards is formidable. Lundeen was a member of the 1980-81 MEL championship basketball team, the 1981-82 team, and captain and Co-MVP on the 1982-83 team. He was named to the All-MEL team, All-Region team, All-County team, and the Bishop O’Dowd All-Star team. Lundeen was a member of the 1982 Napa High baseball team and was also MVP and captain of the 1983 team. He was a pitcher and first baseman and was talented enough to be named All-MEL, All-Region and All-County. He also played in the 1983 East-West All-Star baseball game. Lundeen was a member of the 1981 MEL Championship football team. He was All-MEL, All-County, All-Region and All-Northern California for his play as a linebacker. He was captain of the 1982 championship team and was All-MEL, All-County and All-Region, as linebacker on defense and guard on offense. He was a pre-season pick on Street & Smith’s All-American High School team as a linebacker. He was MEL Lineman of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year on the All-Northern California team and was also a member of the East-West All-Star football team. Lundeen was the 1983 Vallejo Times Herald Athlete of the Year, 1983 Co-Athlete of the Year at Napa High and was named to the Times Herald MEL Team of the Decade. He earned a football scholarship to San Jose State, while his high school coach, Napa High Hall of Famer Les Franco, said, “Craig was the best linebacker I ever coached.”
