Jay Suesens was a football standout for the Indians during his tenure at Napa High. He was All-Monticello Empire League in both his junior and senior years, and was also named NHS Student of the Month. As a lineman for Napa High, he was honored as Lineman of the Year during his senior campaign and he still holds the Napa High record for Best Blocking Percentage (94%) in a single game, as well as for a single season (81%) during his junior year.

Suesens, a member of the 1994 team that won the MEL title and went 13-1, also played in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division Championship game against Nevada Union. The Team Captain was also honored with the Iron Man Award, given to team members in recognition of their off-season dedication and their leadership that inspires their peers.

His skills on the football field caught the attention of the coaches at UC Davis, where he was offered a scholarship. Suesens continued his football career with the Aggies and was a three-year starter, after a redshirt year for Davis where he was named Redshirt of the Year in 1995. During his senior season at Davis, Suesens was named Team Captain and was later voted to the UC Davis All-Decade Team for the 1990s.

Suesens resides in Sacramento and works as a landscape architect.
