Matt Moon was a three-year standout performer in basketball and track at Napa High School. As the starting center on the basketball team for three years, Moon became the second player in Napa High history to score over 1,000 points. He earned All-City and All-North Bay League honors in both his junior and senior years. He was named Napa’s Most Valuable Player in both years. In track, Moon ran high and low hurdles, was a member of the mile relay team, and high-jumped. As a senior, he cleared 6’8″ in the high jump. In both his junior and senior years, Moon was named Most Valuable Track Athlete for Napa High. Moon played two years of basketball at College of Marin. In his sophomore year, he was the leading rebounder on a team that was ranked 20th in the nation. Moon finished his basketball career at Linfield College in Oregon. He played for two years and was the winner of Linfield’s Inspiration, Leadership, and Dedication Award which is given to one athlete each year at the college. Moon holds a black belt in Judo, Jujitsu and Karate. In 1992, he won a Pan American gold medal in the senior division of Tai Kwon Do, and a bronze medal in Karate. He also wrestled professionally under the name of “The American Ninja.”
