Stuart Humpert had an outstanding career at Napa High School as a football player and track & field standout. He was a defensive back on three Napa High football teams and a hurdler and relay runner on three Napa High track teams. In 1970, Humpert was All-North Bay League and All-Redwood Empire in football. He was selected Back of the Week three times, Napa High Athlete of the Year and San Francisco Chapter of the National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete of The Year. He set school records with four interceptions in one game and nine in one season. In track, Humpert led the Napa High team to a NBL championship in 1971. He set a school record in the 120-yard high hurdles at 14.0 and was a member of the 440 relay team that won the league championship and set a school record of 42.7. Humpert’s accomplishments at Napa High earned him a football scholarship to Oregon State.
