Keith Orr was a coach in the Napa system for over 40 years, over 34 of which were at Napa High School. He coached football, basketball and track at the high school level, baseball and basketball at the junior high school level and football at Napa Junior College. In football, Orr coached the Napa sophs from 1965-70, was assistant varsity coach in 1971 and 1972, and varsity coach from 1972-1979. He was the head track coach at Napa High from 1972 to 1992 and from 1994 to 1998. Orr was assistant varsity basketball coach from 1965 to 1978. In 1979, he became assistant coach for the girls basketball team, a position he held until 1985, when he took over as head girls basketball coach. His 10-year stint in that position ended in 1995. Prior to coming to Napa, Orr was a four-sport athlete at Kimberly High School in Idaho. He graduated from Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho in 1953 with a BS degree in Physical Education and minors in History and Science. He received a Masters Degree in Education from Oregon State University in 1958. Mary Shipp, a coaching associate of Orr said about him, “Over Keith Orr’s 34-year coaching career at Napa High School, he has influenced the lives of thousands of athletes. His dedication to the athletes in his football, basketball and track programs has allowed them to excel to their fullest potentials as high school athletes and successful adults.”
